In most areas of human inquiry including ecology, psychology, and philosophy, there is a growing consensus that the idea that humans are separate from the environment and the rest of existence is misguided. There is a recognition that we are embedded both physically and spiritually within something bigger than ourselves.  Developing a truer understanding of this is one of the great opportunities of the 21st century.

The vision underlying Wild Mind has always been that a deep personal experience of relationship with the natural world is the key to healing both ourselves and the earth.

The universe is a communion of subjects,
not a collection of objects.

THE WILD MIND 'INSTITUTE'

In the coming years we hope to help establish the Wild Mind 'Institute'.  The institute would be dedicated to exploring and deepening the human/nature relationship across multiple fields, with a focus on simultaneously "rewilding" humans and the environment.  The vision is to bring together people from around Australia and the world, to share experiences, offer workshops and training that support and inspire the development of new ecologically informed paradigms and practices. This is a cross-disciplinary project encompassing fields that might loosely be brought together under the banner of experiential human ecology.

The dream of the Wild Mind Institute is informed by many aspects of our work, including:

  • Working with the community on our rewilding project in Wild Dog Valley
  • Studying and teaching in philosophy, psychotherapy, and embodiment practices
  • Running the Wild Mind Gathering eco-psychology conferences
  • On-going research exploring the relationship between humans and nature

Get involved

The vision includes publications, workshops, courses, and events related to exploring and deepening humanity's relationship with the natural environment.  If you wish to stay informed about upcoming events and developments at the Wild Mind Institute, please subscribe to the mailing list. If you have an idea, a workshop, a vision, please get in touch.
